ASKO de Kara will face Al Ahly, Raja Club Athletic and Primeiro de Agosto in Group A of the CAF Confederation Cup after Wednesday’s draw placed the Togolese side in one of the competition’s toughest sections.
The club from Kara qualified for the group stage against Mali’s FC Diarra, progressing on the away-goals rule after the tie finished 3-3 on aggregate.
ASKO will now take on three opponents with extensive experience of continental football as it seeks to reach the quarter-finals. The top two teams in each group will advance, with the group stage scheduled to begin in November 2026.
Al Ahly are the record holders for CAF Champions League titles and have also won the CAF Confederation Cup, lifting the trophy in 2014. Raja Club Athletic have claimed the competition twice, in 2018 and 2021.
Primeiro de Agosto of Angola complete a demanding Group A line-up for ASKO, who will be competing against clubs from Egypt, Morocco and Angola.
The remaining groups include several other established sides, while the final place in Group C is yet to be decided.
