Chief Executive Officer of AshantiGold Kudjoe Fianoo admits the current side will need some reinforcements before embarking on their CAF Champions League campaign.
The Miners will be making a return to Africa’s flagship club competition following their successful domestic campaign this term.
AshGold even before going to Africa have sold two of their most influential players.
Yakubu Mohammed and Bernard Morrision have departed to join Raja Casablanca and AS Vita respectively.
And their CEO Kudjoe Fianoo concedes the side needs to strengthen if they are to make any meaningful impact in Africa.
“Definitely we cannot say we have the best of materials and therefore we need to beef up the team,” he said.
“We have done it before – when the Champions League was first conceived we made it all the way to the finals.
“There is therefore no doubt that we need to reinforce the squad to make it better for Africa.”
AshGold won the just ended Ghana Premier League title – their first in almost two decades.
