Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan made an injury return for Al Ain in their 1-0 defreat to Al Ahli on the UAE Super Cup match played on Friday.
The 29-year-old who has been struggling with an ‘infection’ came on as a late replacement for Ibrahim Diaky in the game played in Abu Dhabi.
Gyan lasted over 16 minutes as he felt his way back after a two-week injury layoff which sees him miss Ghana’s double header friendlies against Senegal and Mali on Saturday and Tuesday respectively.
Zlatk0 Dalic’s side were however handed the defeat through an 86th minute strike by Saleem Khamis.
Al Ain eventually went a man down after Mohammed Abdulrahamn was sent off in injury time to ease their late surge for an equalizer.
