AS Roma v Inter Milan: unbeaten Serie A leaders set for Stadio Olimpico test

Published on: 19 September 2026

AS Roma host Inter Milan in one of the biggest matches of the early Serie A season on Saturday, with both sides having won all four of their league fixtures.

The fifth-round fixture takes place on Saturday, 19 September 2026, at 16:00 GMT at the Olympic Stadium in Rome.

The match will be shown on Canal+ in France, Amazon Prime Video in Germany and the United Kingdom, and Paramount+, CBS, Fubo, DAZN and TUDN / ViX in the United States. DAZN is the broadcaster in Canada, while Canal+ Sport Afrique will carry the game in Africa. Stan Sport has the rights in Australia, TNT Sports in Brazil and ESPN across Latin America.

Roma seeking to maintain perfect start

AS Roma have made an ideal beginning to their 2026/27 Serie A campaign, winning all four matches under Gian Piero Gasperini.

The capital club began with a 4-0 victory against Fiorentina, followed that with a 4-0 win at Lecce and then beat Atalanta 2-1. Their latest success came on Monday, when they defeated Torino 2-0 away from home.

Roma returned to the top four last season after being without Champions League football since 2018. Having achieved that under Gasperini in his first year, the Giallorossi now want to build on their progress and challenge the established contenders for the title.

Their European campaign did not begin as positively, however. They were held to a 1-1 draw by Fenerbahce in their opening Champions League match.

Inter arrive as reigning champions

Inter Milan have also collected maximum points from their opening four league games. They began with a 4-1 win against Monza, edged past Cagliari 1-0 and defeated Napoli 3-2 before beating Udinese 5-3 earlier this week.

The Nerazzurri won Serie A in 2024, finished second behind Napoli in 2025 and reclaimed the title last season in commanding fashion. They ended the campaign 11 points clear and also lifted the Coppa Italia, ensuring they are again regarded as the team to beat.

Their only setback this season came in the Champions League. Inter lost 2-1 to Real at Bernabeu despite producing a strong performance.

Roma have won only two of their past 10 meetings with Inter Milan, losing the other eight. Even so, their home form and unbeaten league record give the hosts reason for confidence.

Both teams will also be managing the physical demands of a Champions League fixture in the same week. That could influence the closing stages of a match expected to be cautious and tactically disciplined, with neither side keen to take excessive risks.

Africafoot’s prediction is a 2-2 draw. Betting odds listed by 1xbet put both an Inter Milan victory and an AS Roma win at 2.50, while a draw is priced at 3.40.
