Arsenal maintain perfect home record

Arsenal made it four wins out of four at home in the Premier League this season with a 2-0 victory over Brighton at the Emirates Stadium.

Nacho Monreal and Alex Iwobi netted in each half to secure the win for Arsene Wenger's side, who move up to fifth in the table with the three points.

Arsenal could have opened the scoring after just a minute when Alexandre Lacazette rifled a strike from the edge of the box against the post, with Alexis Sanchez then hitting the rebound over the bar.

The hosts did manage to make a breakthrough 15 minutes later, with Monreal eventually firing a loose ball into the back of the net after Shkodran Mustafi had first seen his effort cleared off the line.

Brighton could have drawn level shortly afterwards, with only the woodwork denying Solly March, who lashed a stinging strike from the edge of the area against the post before Lewis Dunk sent the rebound wide.

Arsenal had to wait until just before the break to create their next real opening, with a quick counterattack resulting in Sead Kolasinac squaring the ball to Aaron Ramsey, but his shot was well saved by Maty Ryan.

The Gunners were able to add a second soon after the restart with the unmarked Iwobi producing a great finish past Ryan after Sanchez had backheeled the ball into his path.

With Arsenal now dominating proceedings they came forward again five minutes later as Sanchez burst into the box and cut inside before seeing his low hit tipped round the post by Ryan.

Kolasinac got his head on the resulting corner, but March was on the line to clear the danger for Brighton.

Chris Hughton's side could have set up a tense finale for Arsenal when going close in the 84th minute, but Glenn Murray's header from Pascal Gross' cross sailed just wide.
