Head coach of New Edubiase United FC, Anthony Commey is on the verge of becoming the technical director of the club as the management move to appoint an unnamed coach for the Yenko Nkoaa boys, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.
Grapevine sources have revealed that the management of the Bekwai-based side were not happy with the performance of the team in the just ended league as they had to play their last game to determine their faith in the league.
The source further disclosed that the management of the club has could have sacked Anthony Commey but for his long service and dedication to the club, management want to make him a technical director.
"Our performance in the league this season was very bad. We can boast of some of the most experienced players in the league yet we had struggle to escape relegation," the source said.
"We believe that the technical team must be transformed as we have reached an agreement with a coach who will soon take over before next season starts," the source added.
The source however was tight-lipped on whether the said coach will be a local or a foreign coach but insisted that Commey will be moved.
"We could have sacked Commey but he has been very loyal to the club. He has been with us since Division Two and we think it is not fair to sack him,. But his performance has been retrogressing season after season. We struggled last season and this season too."
"We have therefore decided to make him the technical director of the club as the new coach comes on board," the source concluded.
New Edubiase United had to beat Heart of Lions by 4-2 in the last league game at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium to escape the claws of relegation.
