Cote d’Ivoire coach Herve Renard claims Andre Ayew is the most influential player in the Ghana team ahead of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations finals.
The Elephants come up against the Black Stars on Sunday in a repeat of the 1992 finals which Cote d’Ivoire won in an epic penalty shootout.
Asamoah Gyan has been widely considered to be Ghana’s key player but has been unable to play much this term due to injury and illness.
Andre Ayew has stepped up in his absence – leading the goalscorer’s chart in the Ghana team with a tally of three in this tournament.
And Herve Renard recognizes the immense threat of the Olympique Marseille man ahead of Sunday’s finals by labelling him the most influential in the Black Stars.
“Andre Ayew is the best player in the Ghana team,” he said.
“He is a very good player and we have to find something to keep him out.”
