Manchester United paid €9.5m in compensation for the departure of Ruben Amorim and members of his coaching staff, according to the club’s annual financial report.
The original settlement for Amorim’s dismissal had been set at €19.4m. However, his contract included a clause allowing the compensation to be reduced if he secured a position with another club.
Amorim left his role as Manchester United manager in January after just over a year in charge. The Portuguese coach subsequently took over at Milan during the summer, triggering the clause and reducing the amount owed by the English Premier League club.
The arrangement saved Manchester United €9.9m compared with the initial compensation figure, Goal reported.
