Allegri Reveals He Will Not Rush Claudio Marchisio Back Into Juventus Side After Injury

Published on: 10 September 2016

"?Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has insisted that midfielder Claudio Marchisio will not be thrust back into his side too early - and certainly not in today's match against Sassuolo - Goal reports.

Marchisio, an Italy international, suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in April against Palermo. He was involved sparingly in a training session on Thursday, but Allegri has denied any presumption that the midfielder will immediately be thrown back into first-team duties.

"We will not be rushing him back into action." Allegri informed journalists at a news conference, ahead of Juventus's hosting of Sassuolo today.

"It is important that he reaches peak condition before we gradually ease him into full training sessions and, eventually, matches."

However, the manager was happy to report that "Marchisio's recovery from injury is coming along well."

The 30-year-old Italian has been at Juventus since the 2006/07 season, assisting the Turin side to five Serie A titles during his tenure and making far more than three hundred appearances in that time.

The Italian giants lost a key midfielder in Paul Pogba in the transfer window, so they need all of the strength that they can get in that department now.

On the other hand, they were able to secure the services of the lethal Gonzalo Higuain for £77m.

Juventus are favourites to beat Sassuolo, having won four of their six matches against them. Sassuolo have not managed to score a single goal against the Turin side in any of those games. Juve have also won four of their last five games, with just a single draw blotting their copybook.
