Aliou Dieng’s agent has denied reports that the Mali international could leave Valencia during the January transfer window.
Spanish newspaper AS reported that Valencia’s management had considered placing the midfielder on the transfer list in January as part of an effort to reduce the club’s wage bill and create funds for new signings.
However, Dieng’s representative, Khaled Maghraby, rejected the claims in an interview with Maghreb-Foot. He said the 27-year-old was keen to continue his career with the Spanish club and dismissed suggestions that Valencia were unhappy with the player’s performances.
Maghraby also expressed surprise at reports that Dieng’s limited involvement had led to dissatisfaction within the club.
Dieng joined Valencia after leaving Egypt, where he had played for Al Ahly. He has made six appearances for his new side so far, totalling 232 minutes.
The midfielder started Valencia’s two most recent matches during this period, with a number of injuries in the squad creating an opportunity for him to feature from the beginning.
Although his playing time has been limited, his agent remains adamant that Dieng is expected to stay at Valencia rather than seek a move in January.
The Mali international is under contract with Valencia until 30 June 2028. His current estimated market value is €3m.
Valencia’s next fixture will be their ninth match of the Spanish league season, against Athletic Bilbao.
