Algeria’s women took a major step towards the third qualifying round for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games with an emphatic 8-0 victory over the Central African Republic in Algiers.
The hosts dominated the first leg of their second-round tie at the Stade du 5-Juillet-1962 on Friday, taking a four-goal lead before half-time.
The opening goal arrived in the 20th minute when Ndoumba Yatrein scored an own goal. Marine Dafeur added a second six minutes later, before Lina Boussaha struck in the 30th minute.
Sofia Bekhaled completed Algeria’s first-half scoring in the 36th minute to leave the Vertes firmly in control at the interval.
Algeria continued to press after the restart and extended their advantage through Nouhad Naili in the 51st minute. Ines Belloumou made it 6-0 in the 68th minute, with Lynda Bendris adding another in the 80th.
Nesrine Bahlouli completed the scoring in the first minute of stoppage time. The goal capped a memorable debut for Bahlouli, who was making her first appearance for Algeria.
The result gives Algeria a commanding advantage heading into the second leg, which will also be played at the Stade du 5-Juillet-1962 on Tuesday 13 October at 18:00.
