Alex Pritchard's Brighton Move Ruined by Poor Traffic, Says Seagulls CEO

Published on: 05 August 2016

"?Alex Pritchard's proposed move to Brighton failed to materialize after he got caught in poor traffic on the M25, according to the Championship club's chief executive Paul Barber.

Former Tottenham youngster Pritchard had reportedly agreed personal terms with the Sussex club, but had a change of heart after sitting in traffic while on his way down to the AMEX to make the move official.

Barber revealed at a fan forum on Thursday night that all details had been sorted with Spurs regarding a transfer fee, and also that personal terms had been agreed with the player and his agent.

It would seem that the poor traffic sucked all the optimism out of Pritchard regarding his move to Brighton, and he instead opted to sign for Norwich City.

PB: We agreed terms with Spurs, and then agreed terms with the player and agent. Player was travelling to us. #FansForum #BHAFC

PB: There were delays on the M25, and it was during that delay another club jumped on the deal. #FansForum #BHAFC

Barber ended his comments on the matter by firing a small dig at the former Spurs attacking midfielder.

PB: We move on. CH, TB, PW and I weren't happy, but most important thing now is getting players who want to play for us. #FansForum #BHAFC

"?"?Pritchard had looked set to play a small role for Spurs last season following a successful loan period at Brentford during the 2014-15 campaign, but injuries during the first half of the season and then an extremely unsuccessful loan at West Brom saw him deemed surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane.

Pritchard can now look forward to a fiery reception when his new club Norwich travel to Brighton for their Championship encounter in the upcoming season.
