Alex Iwobi assists Fulham to victory over Newcastle

Nigeria Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi put his name in the assist list as his Fulham side defeated Newcastle in the English Premier League on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports

He provided the assist for the second goal of the day as the Cottages earned a 3-1 home league victory over Magpies.

The hosts started like a house on fire with Raul Jimenez scoring from a volley after a pass from Adams Traore in the 6th minute.

A minute later it could have been two goals for Fulham, but Emile Smith Rowe's attempt ricocheted the crossbar.

On 23 minute, Fulham doubled the margin courtesy of Rowe who had been found by Adama before releasing the ball to Iwobi who eventually pass back to Smith Rowe in the box, who finished past Pope.

Adama and Joa saw their attempts saved by Nick Pope who kept the score at 2-0 after half time.

Newcastle at the start of the second phase of the game pulled one back through Barnes.

The visitors pushed for the equalizer as Fulham kept it tight at the back until the third minute of additional time when Reiss Nelson sealed the win for the host.

Meanwhile, Alex Iwobi's compatriot, Calvin Bassey was also in action for Fulham in the game.
