Former Inter striker Alessandro Altobelli is being considered for a role within Italy’s national-team structure as team manager of the Under-20 side.
Altobelli’s potential appointment would follow the involvement of several other former Italy internationals in administrative positions across the national teams. Giancarlo Antognoni is working with the Under-21 squad, Giovanni Galli with the Under-18 team and Ciro Immobile with the Under-16 side.
According to fcinter1908.it, Altobelli has reacted positively to the proposal. The former Inter player has discussed the opportunity in a group chat involving members of the 1982 champions, including former team-mates who have already taken up roles within the Azzurri set-up.
Among those consulted were Antognoni and Galli, who have both moved into administrative positions with Italy’s national teams.
Altobelli has thanked Italian Football Federation president Giovanni Malago for the offer, but has asked for more time before making a final decision.
