Akpom has been on the news for a move away from the Dutch Eredevisie with reports of the 29 year-old being unhappy at the club.

However, the former Middlesbrough striker called first season at the club “positive”- "But ultimately, it's not about individual success. It's about the team, and we didn't do too well. That was unfortunate," Akpom told Ziggo Sport

In the new season, his role as a striker is different: "Now we have a system and a philosophy. A playing style that we train very intensively.

“This season, I have to connect the game as a striker. I drop deeper into midfield. Our wingers then make the runs behind the defense. We also have to press defensively from the start. That's what's changed."
