Ajax Amsterdam are continuing negotiations to bring Yves Bissouma to the club, despite the closure of the transfer window.
The 30-year-old midfielder is currently a free agent after his contract with Tottenham ended, allowing Ajax to make him an offer outside the usual transfer period. According to De Telegraaf, the Dutch club are discussing a one-season contract with an option to extend it for a further year.
The Amsterdam side had identified Bissouma as a target before the transfer deadline and, according to Africafoot, remain focused on completing the deal. Several clubs from Europe’s five major leagues and from Asia have also shown interest in the midfielder.
However, sources cited by Africafoot say Ajax’s directors remain confident that they can reach an agreement with Bissouma. His status as a free agent means the club can continue talks and potentially register him without waiting for the next transfer window.
Bissouma’s current market value is estimated at €10m. During his time at Tottenham, he earned an annual salary of €3,219,788, equivalent to 2,092,862,200 FCFA.
Ajax are preparing for their next Eredivisie fixture, a sixth-round match against Willem II. The match is scheduled to take place as the club continues to assess possible additions to its squad.
The available betting odds list Ajax as strong favourites, with a home win priced at 1.10. A draw is listed at 9.00, while a Willem II victory is priced at 21.00.
