Asante Kotoko needed a late penalty to post a 2-1 win over Bechem United on Sunday as they continue with their bid to end a bad run of results.
Striker Ahmed Toure converted the spot kick three minutes from time to clinch all three points for the champions.
Kotoko had taken a 17th minute lead through Dauda Mohammed who finished off a neat build up.
David Duncan’s side however failed to score anymore goals for the remainder of the half despite having the lion’s share of possession.
Their profligacy was punished at the start of the second half when Aminu Mohammed equalized for Bechem United.
The visitors, spurred on by their goal went on to control most part of the second half – frustrating the entire Kotoko bench and more especially the fans.
The passionate supporters of the Kumasi-based giants have been very critical of the commitment of their players in recent weeks.
It appeared that this focus was going to deepen until Kotoko were awarded a late penalty which was converted by Toure to steal all three points before their not too impressed fans.
