Striker Ahmed Toure missed a late penalty as Asante Kotoko spurned a golden chance to secure a famous win over Medeama on Sunday.
The Burkinabe won the penalty off goalkeeper Muntari Tagoe but scoffed his kick in virtually the final piece of action of the game played in Tarkwa.
Medeama could however had ended the game the maximum three points had they made the plethora of chances they created in the opening minutes count.
Kwasi Donsu came close to scoring after the 7th minute but his long drive went agonizingly wide.
Nathaniel Asamoah then had a chance to score against his former club to extend his lead on the goalscorer’s chart after he was played clean on goal after 13 minutes.
But the striker failed to find his mark in a one-on-one situation against goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi.
Obed Owusu had a chance to make the hosts pay two minutes later but his final kick went wayward.
Chances came aplenty for both sides but strangely somehow the game finished goalless at the end of the first half.
Kotoko were the quickest off the blocks in the second half with Ahmed Toure going on a surging run but goalkeeper Muntari Tagoe was alert to thwart the threat.
Medeama however took full control of the game moments later with Hans Kwoffie dominating play in midfield.
Kotoko kept withdrawing into their defensive area as the game neared full time in a clear attempt to come away with a point from the Tarkwa T&A Park.
Medeama on the other hand kept pushing for the winner to appease their packed home crowd but the likes of Ahmed Adams were proving a huge stumbling block.
Ahmed Toure however managed to carve out a fine chance for himself by winning a last minute penalty.
The striker who scored last weekend from the spot for Kotoko dusted himself from the tackle from goalkeeper Muntari Tagoe to take the decisive kick which he missed to the amazement to all.
