Ghana international defender Jonathan Mensah saw his Evian Thonon Gaillard side relegated from the French Ligue 1 on Saturday.
Evian could have saved their heads if they had won against Saint-Etienne at the Parc des Sports in Annecy.
But Mensah was not in action as Evian slipped to a 2-1 reverse against the visitors who are also pushing for an European finish.
Should Mensah stay at Evian next season, it would mean he will be playing in the Ligue 2.
He played a total 11 games scored once for them as they have finished the season among the bottom three with a game left to go.
