In Abidjan, the Super Eagles camp faces a severe shortage of training kits, compelling Nigeria's top football stars, notably considered the most valuable in the AFCON tournament, to daily launder their sole set of training gear.
A departure from previous norms, this scarcity has triggered dissatisfaction among players who bemoan the return to a "wash-and-wear" routine, citing fading and peeling kits.
Despite voicing concerns, the issue remains unaddressed, impacting not only training attire but also restricting supplies of house wear kits and omitting essentials like canvas shoes, bags, and backpacks.
“We are back to the era of wash-and wear,” one very angry player told SCORENigeria
“My training kits are fading and peeling because I have to wash them after every training.
“At the previous AFCON in Cameroon, we got three sets of the training kits.
“We have complained about this problem, but it has not been addressed.”
Nike, extending sponsorship until December 2026, is the official kit provider for the Super Eagles.
