In preparation for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, the Super Eagles held their first training session on Tuesday night at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium's practice pitch in Uyo, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Nigeria will play against Benin Republic at the battle ground of same venue on Friday.

Twenty players took part in the open training session, which was attended by the media and fans.

However, the team's next two training sessions on Wednesday and Thursday will be held behind closed doors.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Taminu who replaced Bright Osayi-Samuel due to injury and  Samuel Chukwueze who both arrived were part of the training.

Three key players - Victor Osimhen, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Maduka Okoye - are still expected to join the camp.

Iheanacho is set to arrive on Wednesday, while Osimhen and Okoye are expected to link up with their teammates on Thursday.

Coach Augustine Eguavoen will be looking to fine-tune his squad's preparations ahead of the crucial qualifying fixtures.
