AFCON Qualifiers: Eguavoen warns Super Eagles against underestimating Benin Republic

Super Eagles caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen has cautioned his players against underestimating the Benin Republic ahead of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tie on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Nigeria will host the Cheetahs at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, with the visitors seeking to build on their 2-1 win over the Super Eagles in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match in June.

Eguavoen stressed the importance of showing respect to the Beninoise, while also emphasizing the need to capitalize on home advantage.

"We will treat Benin with utmost respect. No doubt about that, because if you disrespect people, you will have a problem," Eguavoen told the Super Eagles media.

"We will play them with big respect, but then, this is our home. We must make our home count."
