Nigeria Super Eagles played a 1-all draw in their African Cup of Nations Qualifiers match against Benin Republic in Abidjan, Cote D'Ivoire on Thursday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
A late goal from striker Victor Osimhen ensured the Super Eagles got a point and remained unbeaten in the qualifying series at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny.
The hosts scored in the 16th minute through defender Mohamed Tijani, who headed in a goal between Stanley Nwabali's legs. Tijani scored from a corner kick to give the Cheetahs the lead.
A chance to level matters through Victor Osimhen was missed as he headed wide from Onyemaechi's chance, missing Nigeria's best chance of the first half so far to keep the score 1-0 in favor of Benin Republic in the first half.
The second half started as Benin Republic continued to dominate the game.
The Cheetahs could have won the game with two glorious chances, but they failed to put the ball in the back of the net.
In 81 minutes, Osimhen drew the Super Eagles level against Benin Republic, heading in Moses Simon's cross, a goal that ended the tie 1-1 at full time.
The Super Eagles who have already qualified before the game will play Rwanda on home soil on Monday.
