AFCON: Peseiro set to replace Ndidi, Iheanacho

Following recent news of injuries for Leicester City's duo of Wilfried Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho, Nigeria Super Eagles Coach Jose Peseiro is set to replace the duo for the African Cup of Nations, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Ndidi is strongly reported to miss the AFCON tournament due to injury which saw him miss his team’s home win over Huddersfield Town in the English Championship on Monday.

While Iheanacho who has a muscle injury may also miss the tournament in Cote D'Ivoire.

Reports are rife about their replacements with Royal Antwerp’s Yusuf Alhassan to stand in for Ndidi while OGC Nice striker, Terem Moffi will replace Iheanacho.

Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro can still make changes to the squad in case of further injuries on or before January 10 as the AFCON begin 3 days later.

Nigeria is pitched in group A with hosts, Cote D'Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau.

It begins its campaign against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday, 14 January and play Cote D'Ivoire 4 days later before ending the group stage against Guinea Bissau on 22 January.
