AFCON 2025: Libya Coach laments preparation woes ahead of Nigeria clash

Published on: 08 October 2024

Libya head coach, Nasser Al-Hadiri has expressed dissatisfaction with his team's preparation for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Nigeria, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Mediterranean Knights are grappling with injuries, suspensions, and reported player boycotts, depriving Al-Hadiri of key players.

“We have not yet reached the required level of readiness to face a strong team like Nigeria,” he told a press conference.

“The team were not in good shape before I took over.

“The absence of several players in our first training sessions has made it difficult to establish a comprehensive tactical plan for the game.”

Al-Hadiri inherited a struggling team and faces an uphill task.

Libya's challenges are compounded by the absence of several players from the initial training sessions.

The North Africans face a daunting task against Nigeria, starting with the away leg at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday.

The return leg is scheduled for Benina four days later.
