Nigeria Super Eagles Coach Jose Peseiro has disclosed that the extent of goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali's injury is known after the victory over Cameroon at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Nwabali was stretched out of the 2-0 victory after Cameroon player, Toto Nouhou clashed towards him leaving the Chippa United goalkeeper's right leg strapped.
He was substituted later for Francis Uzoho in the 77th minute. A situation that got many Nigerians worried.
Jose Peseiro stated after the game that the level of the injury cannot be known except in 24 or 48 hours time and hopes he will be fit for the next game.
“We will assess the state of Nwabali's injury in the next 24 to 48 hours. It’s difficult to assess his condition, while we were in the match. But I am hoping that he will be fit for the next match… I want him to play. And the players want him to play.” the Portuguese tactician said at the post match conference.
It is hoped that Nwabali will be fit and be in shape for the quarter final clash against Angola on Friday, February 2nd.
