Ghana coach Avram Grant has lauded his team’s performance at the just ended 2015 Africa Cup of Nations despite failing to end their trophyless run.

The Black Stars lost to the Ivory Coast 9-8 in a dramatic penalty shoot-out of the 30th edition of the tournament hosted in Equatorial Guinea.

Grant says he has a side capable of competing now and in the future.

The former Chelsea manager is adamant that his youngish side showed remarkable improvement and are now a force to reckon with on the continent.

“We are a very young side but we have shown what we can achieve as a unit,” Grant told SuperSport TV.

“I think we have a team not only for now but for the future.

“Nobody gave us a chance coming into this but we have shown that we can compete all the way.”

Kwesi Appiah is not among our best strikers. We are not a small up and coming football country. We have strikers playing at a higher level than Appiah. Grant must get to know our players quickly and he will find out how much quality there is.

Avram Grant didn't watch all the qualifiers. He must get to know our players.

It looks like we do not understand the penalty rules. For the first 5 kicks, a list is submitted to the referee, and so that sequence must be followed, no matter what. Grant could not switch the order of the players just because Ghana had a 2 goal advantage. After the first 5 kicks, then anybody can be called to step up. Just so we know, before we criticize the coach.
