Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan says the dramatic penalty shoot-out defeat to Ivory Coast in the final of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations will toughen the team to win major silverware in future.

The Black Stars held the star-studded Elephants side to a 0-0 draw after extra-time.

But Ghana allowed a winning position to slip by after Ivory Coast missed their first two spot-kicks.

After 22 kicks, Ivory Coast recovered to win 9-8 and lift their second African title.

"We had the chance to win tonight but that's football," the striker added. "We apologise for that.

"I'm very sad but I cannot fault our performance. We have young players who are very good, so we hope that we can come back stronger."

For me I blame Gyan for our loss. Anytime we need this guy he disappoints.who did he wanted to score for him to jubilate? Also he was selfish in the game he could have made Dede score. We'll need to look beyong Gyan

Sometimes if you feel your own power is what you believe God will make you know that he is powerful no matter the juju.you can see the March was clear for Ghana but see how this guy day is acting like he is a powerful guy to make Ghana win Cuz they use juju in every thing(useless childish act)and you think God will give you the win for human to praise you.str_repeat('*',strlen('fuck')) them.we can't take anything if he ever captain Cuz God created those lesser Gods they Hve put their believe in.they should learn from yaya he is a very big star but they were calm quiet and reading their quotes when the penalties was going on.i repeat the presence of abedi pele blood in the BLACK STARS team will never won anything till GOD comes mark it on my anus.we have to do everything by God ways not juju juju.

Useless talk....which army goes to battle without the captain? Imagine if you had mastered the courage and led the team taking the first kick, we would be celebrating a 4:3 victory over ivory coast. Your decisions are costly.....

tanko i disagree with you 100%. If Gyan try two times and failed does that mean he should give up, no. Because where determination exist failure can never dismantle the flag of success. After all a half done job decieve no pay. Had he try again it wound have been more helpful but to give up is like running away from the battle field. He is the captain and he must put his personal interest behind and lead the nation to grory. Hmmm my heart but Allah will oneday give us our final smile.

To be honest, a good leader knows their limitations and can delegate when necessary. In this case, it was obvious that the man was not 100%. The malaria was still having an impact as well as his collision with the Guinea goalie. He made the right decision.
