Asamoah Gyan dropped from Ghana's starting line up to face Eq Guinea, Jordan starts
Jordan Ayew will start the match in the place of injured captain Asamoah Gyan

Ghana have left out striker Asamoah Gyan from their starting line-up to face Equatorial Guinea on Thursday night in the semi-final of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations with Jordan Ayew replacing the injured captain.

The exclusion of Asamoah Gyan was the only change coach Avram Grant made in the Black Stars starting team to face Nzalang Nacional in Malabo for a place in the final of the competition.

The Black Stars skipper suffered an abdominal injury after Guinean goalkeeper Naby Yattara stamped him in the dying minutes of the quarter-finals match between the two sides last Sunday.

Ghana were hoping their doctors will work on Gyan to recover in time for the match in Malabo but it is clear that he will not be available after failing to recover in time for the match.

This means Jordan Ayew will partner the impressive Kwesi Appiah in attack in the absence of Gyan while replying on the same players who dispatched Guinea with aplomb in the quarter-finals by thrashing them 3-0.

Goalkeeper Razak Brimah maintains his places in the post while the ever reliable Harrison Afful and talented youngster Baba Abdul Rahman will play at the right and left backs respectively.

Jonathan Mensah and John Boye will be maintained at the heart of the defence even though the Daniel Amartey has recovered from his injury.

Tough fighters Mubarak Wakaso and Afriyie Acquah will play in the heart of midfield as they are expected to break down the attack of the opponents while providing passes for strikers Jordan and Appiah in the typical 4-4-2 formation.

Andre Ayew, who will captain the side will play from the left wing while skillful Christian Atsu will play from the right wing.

These players were in blistering form for the Black Stars when they defeated Guinea on Sunday and they are expected to repeat the dose on the Equatoguineans.

BLACK STARS STARTING TEAM: Razak Brimah, Harrison Afful, Baba Rahman, Jonathan Mensah, John Boye, Mubarak Wakaso, Afriyie Acquah, Andre Ayew, Christian Atsu, Jordan Ayew, Kwesi Appiah

Do you think this is the right starting line up? Do you think without Gyan, Ghana can win over the Equtoguineans? Do you think Jordan is the right person to replace Gyan? Make your views known in the box below:

I am not a fashion kind of person neither am i great fun of Jordan. But he will net hattrick tonight. This is not the time to say this or that person should have play! Most at times where there seems to be no hope, there appear confidence!!!

Jordan again. How about Accam or Mahatma? Hope Grant doesn't turn out to be Ghana's Wenger.

I love this selection. I believe that Jordan and Appiah's pairing will be very dangerous going forward. They will torment Eq. Guinea today. I can predict a 4nil score.

I cannot understand the stupidity of Ghanaians as its been displayed by GSN. Why are they so anxious to tell the world whether Asamoah Gyan will be playing or not. Wouldn't it be smart to just shut up so that the other team can be caught guessing?

i do have hope in Avram selection because all the players have a scoring ability, one can not mark a single player and unmark the rest, so let hope for the best and give them a moral support, they will make us proud. Ghana 4 - 2 Eq. Guinea.

They should have rather played David Accam instead of the lazy Jordan Ayew. Why is this guy in the Ghana Black Stars? Is it because of his father or not?

Chale. Gyan was not dropped. He isn't 100% fit. If he was needed from the bench to recue us he would have been called upon. Luckily we didn't need him. This isn't a story GSN. Talk about about some thing worthwhile line how Afful is still playing in the Tunisian leave or how bad Wakaso's free kicks are
