AFCON 2015: "Algeria are afraid of Ghana", says Ghana winger Christian Atsu
Christian Atsu

Ghana winger Christian Atsu insists the Black Stars are not intimidated by Algeria’s fine form at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black Stars must beat the current Group C leaders, who beat South Africa in their opener, to revive their campaign.

Ghana were outplayed by Senegal on Monday as they let in a late goal to lose 2-1 in Mongomo.

Atsu believes his side will come good against Les Fennecs.

“Algeria are a very good team. We know that they have very good individuals who are playing in great clubs, but it doesn’t mean anything,” the on-loan Everton player told lebuteur.com

“They managed to beat South Africa which means that they are a strong side even if they showed some weaknesses that make us feel that they are within our reach.

“After their opening victory they have a psychological advantage, but I don’t think the game will be easy for the Algerians. I am convinced that they are afraid of us. We are Ghana.

“It is going to be a tough battle against a great Algerian side who took an option for the qualification. It is clear that we are going to face a team who are doing well with strong individuals. But we don’t fear Algeria.

"We will fight to the end because we must win, we have no other choice if we want to qualify.”

This guy needs to keep his mouth shut and let his game do the talking. I am not impressed by him at all. Algeria are not afraid of Ghana. In fact, I believe they think is a joke!

It is dangerous for Algeria. They are meeting ghana at the time the black stars are in a do and die mood. They should ask Germany, the world champions

Yes i support you he needs to shut up. Did he think the Algerians are coming to sleep. Talking as if he never know the North-Africans. Indeed empty barrels noise most. Aside the spot-kick he created, what did he do again?. I will not lie they can never defeat Algeria with such a team.

JT that is a great shout Dede in CDM would be excellent he has the hunger to win balls in the middle of the park, the sight to play the ball out accurately and the energy to make last minute lampard style runs into the box. Very good shout most of us didn't think of it like that.

I think Atsu is being misunderstood here. We are all focusing on the head line and not talking about the rest of his words. He makes sense. Put it like this regardless of our recent cup failures, every team in Africa knows that they shouldn't take Ghana lightly. Even Barcelona aren't the same but they will still not be taken lightly. Don't misunderstand. At the same time he has to show us why even small teams like Faroe Islands should be afraid of us. No more talking lets play ball.

Black Stars are like a disaster waiting to happen. In competitions, your opening games must be explosive but we never learn. Can we beat the Algerians? i don't think so because that discipline and testicular fortitude they use against SA, gives them the respect they deserve. As for Atsu, you are yet to prove to Ghanaians that you are a Black Stars material so commot for there.
