Former FIFA and CAF Executive Committee member, Dr. Amos Adamu, has revealed the reasons behind top African countries refusal to give Segun Odegbami the needed five nominations that would have enabled him to officially join the race for the FIFA presidency.

Adamu said the former Super Eagles captain just jumped into the race for the FIFA presidency immediately the position was declared vacant without making any effort to look into the rules and regualtions governing such high ambition.

“The fact that Odegbami didn’t know about the prerequisite of having five African countries nominations until few hours to the deadline, showed clearly that he was not ready for such a world class position.

Instead of going out to seek support in Africa, he was jubilant about the NFF endorsement and he thought that was as good as getting the position.

It was Odegbami’s duty to go move round other African countries campaigning for support and promising them good things and other positive programmes if he eventually becomes FIFA’s president.
