Abia Warriors, Plateau United on song away from home as Enyimba falter in league pursuit

After matchday 36 of the Nigeria Premier Football League 2023/2024 season, Remo Stars revived their chances of winning the league while Enyimba FC faltered in their own pursuit on Wednesday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Besides, their were away wins for Abia Warriors and Plateau United against Gombe United and Sporting Lagos respectively.

Remo Stars moved back to second place on the log after thrashing Heartland FC 4-1 at the Remo Stars Stadium to confirm their relegation to the second tier of Nigerian football.

Goals from Stanley Joseph on 23 minute and Franck Mauwena on 38 minute ensured a comfortable first half for the Sky Blue Stars.

Stanley Joseph second his second on 69 minute before the Naze Millionaires pulled one back ten minutes later.

Jide Fatokun put the icing on the cake with a last minute goal

Enyimba FC for their part could not seize the opportunity of playing at home after playing a 1-1 draw against relegation threatened Bayelsa United.

Enyimba's Alade Balogun 20 minutes goal was cancelled by Ekeson Okorie 35 minutes goal. A result which takes the Aba giants to third.

Abia Warriors took their bite off the cherry to beat already down Gombe United at the Pantami Stadium 3-1.

Samson Obi opened score on 11 minute before Abba Maigari equalled score 11 minutes later. Obi restored the lead five minutes into the second half before  Antoine DeSouza added one more on 68 minute.

A bad day in office it was for Sporting Lagos who lost their first home match of the season against Plateau United after falling 2-1 to drop to the relegation zone.

Chimezie Izuchukwu on 6 minute and Bernard Mundi on 42 minute goal was reduced by Jonathan Alukwu on 79 minute at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.
