Bursaspor of Turkey defender,  Shehu Abdullahi, is honoured to make Nigeria’s provisional squad for  the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Abdullahi played a key role in the qualifiers as the Super Eagles edged out Zambia, Cameroon and Algeria to secure a place in the mundial.

The right-back barring any unforseen circumstances is expected to be named in the final 23-man squad for the competition.

“The journey started in 2015 when I made my debut. Ever since then, your tremendous support have been amazing. I’m honoured to be listed in the World Cup provisional squad. Thanks @thenff, Gernot Rohr & @NGSuperEagles backroom staff. Thanks Nigerian media!,” Abdullahi tweeted on Tuesday.

The 25-yer old has been capped 12 times by Nigeria but is yet to register a goal on the international scene.

He was part of the home-based Super Eagles team that came third at the 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in South Africa.

The former Kano Pillars star also won bronze with Nigeria’s U-23 side at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
