The death of former Nigeria Coaches Stephen Keshi and Amodu Shuaibu has generated concerns over the pitiable welfare of Nigerian Coaches.

While a section of the Nigeria football fraternity has blamed the FA for the untimely deaths of the Icons, former Player and Sports Administrator, Segun Odegbami has called for caution over such insinuations.

Odegbami who represented Nigeria and won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1980 described coaching as a Pressure Cooker job that put managers’ health at risk.

According to Odegbami; he quoted the head of Nigerian Coaches, 75% of the Association are hypertensive.

However, Odegbami insists football Administrators cannot be fully exonerated. He said they are insensitive to the challenges of Coaches but go on to compound the situation; failing to pay their wages and threatening them with the sack.
