Five players have become ineligible to represent Nigeria at the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) after securing moves to clubs outside the country, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The CHAN tournament is strictly reserved for players active in their domestic leagues and all are reported to have signed for clubs outside the country.
The affected players are: Abubakar Sadiq – formerly of Plateau United, Philip Adejo – formerly of Abia Warriors, Saviour Isaac – formerly of Rangers, Papa Daniels Mustapha – formerly of Niger Tornadoes and Waliu Ojetoye - formerly of Ikorodu City
In addition, Rangers defender Ifeanyi Onyebuchi has been ruled out due to injury and will not join the CHAN training camp.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Ifeanyi Harcourt of Sporting Lagos is unavailable as he is currently involved with Nigeria’s U-20 national team.
