3 Premier League Clubs Who Could Sign Kwadwo Asamoah

Published on: 03 June 2015

Juventus wingback Kwadwo Asamoah saw limited action with the Serie A champions this past season and could be looking to make an exit from Italy as a result.

Asamoah is naturally a left-sided wingback who has experience at playing both full-back and as a winger down that side. His versatility could be useful for a number of sides in England.

Since Max Allegri took charge of the Italian giants last summer and switched to a back four with Patrice Evra playing the left-back role and the midfield being narrow, the Ghana international has seen limited options, starting only seven Serie A matches this past season.

The 26-year old certainly has the ability to attract a number of top clubs and here are three top Premier League clubs who could do with the Ghanaian's services:

Manchester City

Neither Aleksandar Kolarov or Gael Clichy appear to have won over Manuel Pellegrini at Manchester City and the billionaires are set for a squad overhaul this summer. Manchester City are third favourites in the Premier League title odds with freebets.com behind Arsenal and Chelsea, and they need to radically overhaul their squad if they are to sustain a realistic title challenge next season.

The defence is one area the two-time Premier League champions need to upgrade. Age is one subject brought up when discussing the Citizens and Kwadwo Asamoah would bring the age down in the left-back role should Pellegrini and co make a move for the 66-time Ghana international. One would expect either Kolarov or Clichy to be moved on before there is room to land a new left-back though.

Liverpool

A perfect fit in Brendan Rodgers' 3-4-3 system as Asamoah is a wingback. Alberto Moreno was decent going forward in his first season at Anfield but was very questionable in defence and protecting Mamadou Sakho. With Glen Johnson set to leave Anfield this summer, there is also little cover for the Spaniard currently on the books.

Asamoah offers more going forward than Moreno and has a powerful shot on him. He's a good dribbler, offers a powerful shot, can create chances from out wide and would offer pace to the Merseyside club down the left-hand side. Raheem Sterling, Lazar Markovic and Jordon Ibe's pace is often used down the right-hand side. Asamoah's quickness would be a useful tool getting back to defend also – he has experience at left-back.

Newcastle United

One club the fans are begging make a number of signings over the summer, Newcastle fans are looking for a number of players to join their club this summer. The Magpies used a number of players in defence last season without much success.

Kwadwo Asamoah could offer the north east club an upgrade at left-back or on the left wing. He's an exciting player and having spent his whole professional career in Italy so he'll certainly know a thing or two about defending.

The versatile player is still under contract at the Juventus Stadium for another three years but it would not be unrealistic for Juventus to accept a bid for their fringe player to allow him regular first-team football elsewhere. Kwadwo Asamoah may be one name we hear crop up during this summer's European transfer window.
