The Golden Eaglets have advanced to the semi-finals of the football competition at the ongoing National Sports Festival currently taking place in Ogun State, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Their emphatic 5-0 victory over Ebonyi State in Friday morning’s quarter-final match was spearheaded by Abdulmuiz Adeleke who scored twice. Adeleke had also opened the scoring in their earlier 2-1 triumph over Edo State on Monday.

Mohammed Imrana who contributed the second goal in the match against Edo found the net once again but was unfortunately sent off late in the game. Destiny Samuel and Emmanuel Ochigbo also got on the scoresheet, rounding off a dominant performance.

Meanwhile, in the women’s category, the Flamingos played out a goalless draw with Lagos State on Thursday.

Despite the stalemate, they top Group B with five points ahead of their final group stage match on Friday evening against Enugu State, who have yet to earn a point.

Close behind the Flamingos are Delta and Lagos States, each with four points. In Group A, Osun State leads with seven points, followed by Ogun and Edo States with five and four points respectively.
