Nigerian football legend Nwankwo Kanu has thrown his weight behind Ademola Lookman to be crowned Africa's best player at the 2024 CAF Awards, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Lookman, 27, is among 10 nominees, including Super Eagles teammate William Troost-Ekong, for the prestigious award, which will be presented on 16 December in Marrakech, Morocco.
"Lookman is a very good player, humble, works very hard and going by the records, I believe he will win," Kanu told Brila FM.
Kanu cited Lookman's impressive performance in the Ballon d'Or rankings, where he finished 14th, as evidence of his outstanding year.
"I don't know of any African player who has done better than him this year," Kanu added. "He has done well for both club and country."
Lookman's stellar form for club and country has made him a strong contender for the award.
