The stunning tourist destination Zanzibar, which is located outside of Tanzania and draws thousands of tourists there each year has been chosen to host the 2024 CAF African Schools Football Championship Finals, Nigeriasoccernet.com can confirm.
The finals of the biggest youth football championship in Africa will take place in its second season from May 21–24, 2024, at the newly renovated Amaan Stadium.
A number of legendary figures in African football as well as CAF President Dr. Motsepe will be present during the competition's 2024 Finals, which will include the champions of the regional and zonal qualifiers.
Players under the age of fifteen compete in the CAF African Schools Football Championship for boys and girls. It is a first for international football and the idea of CAF President Dr. Motsepe, who wants to invest in Africa's youth.
Building on the success of the first season, the second season of the CAF African Schools Football Championship has witnessed a 40% increase in participation, with 804,480 young African boys and girls from 28,862 schools across 44 countries competing.
In addition to providing youth with the chance to participate globally, the tournament offers a concurrent capacity-building program that gives scholars, coaches, and educators access to specialized capacity-building skills.
During the Zonal Qualifiers, CAF implemented multiple initiatives aimed at enhancing its capabilities, such as Young Reporters Programme, Young Referee Programme, Young Medical Officers Programme, CAF D License Coaching Course, as well as the CAF Safeguarding workshops.
As with the previous season, some of CAF's Legends are anticipated to attend the CAF African Schools Football Championship Finals in order to support and uplift the young players.
The Motsepe Foundation in collaboration with CAF will provide USD 150 000 to each of the bronze medallists, USD 300 000 to the winners of both the boys' and girls' competitions, and USD 200 000 to the runners-up. All proceeds will be directed toward school development projects.
