2023 AFCON: CAF pick Gabon and Mauritania referees, ignore Nigeria again

Nigeria will again have no representative in the refereeing department when the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations take place in Côte d’Ivoire next year, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has omitted Nigerian referees from the list of officials that will officiate at the Africa biggest football fiesta.

Of the 19 nationalities CAF has selected, Egypt and Morocco have three representatives each.

Algeria, Gabon and Mauritania have two each.

The competition in recent years has not had a Nigerian in officiating role.

The 2023 AFCON finals will run from January 13 to February 11, 2024.

The Super Eagles are drawn in Group A with hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.
