Nigeria’s Super Falcons will look to secure a place in the semi-final of the 2018 Africa Women’s Nations Cup in Ghana when they take on Equatorial Guinea in their final Group B game today (Saturday) at the Robert Mensah Stadium, Cape Coast.

The defending champions are second in the group with three points behind the Bayana Bayana of South Africa, who have six points

The Super Falcons fell to a shocking 1-0 loss to the Bayana Bayana of South Africa in their first group game but got their campaign back on track with a 4-0 thumping of Zambia on Wednesday.

Thomas Dennerby’s charges are looking to consolidate on that impressive showing when they face the Nzalang Nacional who have already crashed out of the competition.

Jean-Paul Mpila ‘ s side fell to a 5-0 defeat to the Shepolopolo of Zambia in their first game and were comprehensively thrashed 7-1 by South Africa in the second fixture.

Failure to scale through into the knockout stages will be a big disaster for the eight-time champions and star midfielder, Rita Chikwelu has indicated the team’s desire to get all three points against Equatorial Guinea.

“Just like my coach indicated, we are preparing so hard ahead of the game against Equatorial Guinea and get the maximum points to qualify to the next round of the tournament from the group,” Chikwelu told reporters.

“Of course, we are giving Equatorial Guinea the maximum respect they deserve because they are two times champions. We are not underrating any team as far as this tournament is concerned.

“We are going to do all it takes to play against them. It has never been easy facing Equatorial Guinea and we have prepared for that.

“Yes some of us have won the tournament three times but some too haven’t won it. We try to keep the history of Nigeria winning it all the time. We will do everything possible to clinch the trophy once more.”

The game will kick-off at 5pm Nigerian time, same time Zambia and South Africa will also do battle in the other group’s game at the Accra Sports Stadium.
