John Boye

Defender John Boye is the first Ghanaian player to score against South Africa in an Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

The Turkey-based centre-back scored the opening goal for the Black Stars in their 2-1 comeback win over the Bafana Bafana to reach the last eight on Tuesday.

Prior to beaten the South Africans, had remained winless against them in three previous AFCON matches.

The West Africans had lost two and drawn once and had not scored against their opponent.

But that all changed after the Kayseri Erciyesspor defender broke the jinx.

was it in 1996? South Africa beat Ghana 3-0 I believe so Tony couldn't have scored.

I think Tony's goal against SA in 1996 was disallowed. A bicycle kick which would have equalize their goal..... and Paradox, it was Samuel E'too(Cameroon) goal which eliminated Ghana in 2008. SA eliminated Ghana in 2000 which they co-hosted by Nigeria.

The content of this report is not true. What about the fantastic goal by Anthony Yeboah against South Africa in the Cup of Nations that was held in South Africa? Where is your history?
