Accra Hearts of Oak's South African defender Shaun Mason October feels Ghana is motivated to beat South Africa in their 2015 AFCON Group C decider on Tuesday evening.
Ghana lock horns with South Africa in a group decider at Mongomo with each of the sides looking to claim victory to help them advance to the last quarter-finals.
The Black Stars breathed live into their campaign when they defeated Algeria 1-0 last Friday while South Africa have failed to translate their impressive dominant display into goals, picking just a point from their opening two games.
Despite South Africa being in a must-win situation, October says Ghana are motivated to beat his country.
"The black stars look more likely to win the match on Tuesday and are more motivated judging from their performance against Algeria. I would naturally want my country to beat Ghana to qualify, but I feel the stars have a better edge than us," he told Sports Crusader.
Ghana could advance by either drawing or winning against South Africa. In the event Algeria and Senegal split points, the Desert Foxes could advance on goals aggregate but the table could turn if Avram Grant's men score more against South Africa. In that scenario Senegal would amass five points and would be secured.
However, an Algeria win would mean Ghana need all three points against South Africa to pull through as the Desert Foxes would go to six points and Senegal left with four points.
