"?West Brom winger Callum McManaman will join Championship side Sheffield Wednesday on loan, his club have confirmed.

The 25-year-old joined the Baggies in 2015 as Tony Pulis' first signing at the club, and has made 20 Premier League appearances for the side. He is yet to make a first-team appearance for the club this season.

#swfc have agreed a deal with Premier League side @WBA to sign midfielder Callum McManaman on a half-season loan

"Albion have agreed to loan winger Callum McManaman to Sheffield Wednesday for the second half of the season," the club revealed on their "?website.

"The 25-year-old from Liverpool has completed the required medical for his loan to start from January 1 which will run until the end of the season.

All the best to @cm_macca who will join @swfc on loan. Full story below.#WBA https://t.co/K8XBZYfU0L

"McManaman was Head Coach's Tony Pulis's first signing but, having made seven starts and 17 more as a substitute, he has been unused this season.

"He now gets the chance to step into the Championship club's promotion challenge."

McManaman's opportunities in West Brom's squad have been limited due to the impressive form of Matt Phillips, who has scored three goals and added five assists this season, while the summer addition of Nacer Chadli has also seemingly extinguished any hopes of first-team football for the 25-year-old.

The signing could prove to be an inspired one from Sheffield Wednesday, who beat Newcastle United on Boxing Day thanks to Glenn Loovens' header and currently occupy the last playoff spot in the Championship.

McManaman started his career at Everton as a youth player, but moved to Wigan where he made his professional debut before helping the Latics win the FA in 2013.
