A Turkish football doctor and former referee, Ahmet Cakar, has stirred controversy by alleging that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen may be dealing with a serious medical condition that could affect him for life, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.

Speaking on Beyaz TV’s Derin Futbol programme, Cakar claimed to have received confidential information from the Turkish Ministry of Health concerning the Napoli forward’s health status. However, he declined to reveal the specific nature of the alleged illness.

“I received information from the Ministry of Health regarding Victor Osimhen's illness,” Cakar said, as reported by Gsgazete. “As a sportsman and father of two, I don’t want to discuss Osimhen’s illness. I find it wrong.”

The 63-year-old, who is a respected yet controversial figure in Turkish football, added that Galatasaray’s club doctor, Yener ?nce, denied the claims when contacted. Still, Çakar insisted the issue could have long-term effects on the Nigerian international.

“Osimhen’s illness will likely affect him for the rest of his life,” he stated. “If these allegations are denied tomorrow or the next day, I will go through Yener ?nce’s trouble. Galatasaray officials are also aware of this situation. Some countries need to know about certain illnesses.”

Neither Galatasaray nor Osimhen has issued a public response to the doctor’s remarks, leaving fans and the football community in suspense over the nature and truth of the claims.
