Tottenham Line Up January Move for Croatian International Midfielder Milan Badelj

Tottenham are lining up a bid for Fiorentina midfielder Milan Badelj when the transfer window re-opens in the New Year according to the Sunday People

Croatian international Badelj has played against Tottenham four times in the last two years after the two met in the round of 32 stage in the Europa League for consecutive seasons.

Badelj was the subject of considerable interest from AC Milan this summer with the two clubs unable to agree on a fee.

Tottenham are now looking to pounce on the £7m rated man whose contract in Florence runs out in 2018.

Despite recruiting both Victor Wanyama from Southampton and Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle this summer, Pochettino is said to still be keen on bolstering his midfield options. Tottenham are aiming to mount a domestic challenge as well as playing in three cup competitions this year including the Champions League for the first time in six years.

The north London club has a history of signing high-quality Croatian midfielders when Luka Modric joined in 2008 and spent four years at White Hart Lane before moving to Real Madrid.

Badelj begun his career with Dinamo Zagreb where he spent five years - winning four successive domestic titles - before moving to the Bundesliga with Hamburg. He made 62 appearances in two years in Germany before he attracted the interest of Fiorentina where he moved to for a fee believed to be in the region of £5m.

He has amassed 25 caps for Croatia since making his debut back in 2010 and was selected for their Euro 2016 squad where they reached the knockout stages.
