A regular assistant to one of the world's most renowned coaches in Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti, the duo worked together at some of Europe's biggest clubs, namely Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Chelsea and the aforementioned Munich.

Clement had a brief spell as a manager at Championship side Derby County, while also serving as a coach at Blackburn Rovers and Fulham. It is certainly a bold choice by the Swansea board, who will surely hope it will be third time lucky after having now appointed their third coach in just the one season. Of course, Clement's immediate task will be to somehow pull Swansea away from the dreaded relegation zone.

The Swans saw out 2016 with a crushing 3-0 home defeat to Bournemouth and it's impossible to deny that Clement has a real job on his hand to keep Swansea in the division.
