Steve Bruce Set to Bid for Watford Midfielder as He Plans Big Shakeup at Aston Villa

"?Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce looks likely to make a bid for Watford midfielder Adlene Guedioura this transfer window.

"?The Sun are reporting that Bruce is hoping to agree a £3m fee with Watford, so that he can the begin long distance negotiations with the 31-year-old who is away representing Algeria at the AFCON.

Guedioura has failed to cement himself in manager Walter Mazzarri's plans and the recent arrival of Tom Cleverley has pushed the Algerian further down the pecking order.

After making just 4 starts in the #EPL this season, it's clear to see why Cleverley favoured a loan move to Watford https://t.co/ytYtfXbfIa pic.twitter.com/Hk3fvnG7VP

Bruce is said to be near desperation for a new midfielder. The former Hull boss has seen attempts for Tom Cairney, Henri Lansbury and Conor Hourihane all fail this month.

The former United defender knows his team needs changing and sees the centre of midfield as the area he wants to change first.

Villa currently sit 13th in the Championship table, only one point behind local rivals Birmingham City. However, they are ten points away from Sheffield Wednesday, who currently occupy the last play-off place in the league.

Guedioura has been at Watford since moving from Crystal Palace in 2015 and has made 45 appearances for the London side.

The 31-year-old may be very keen on a move to Villa, as it would give him a chance to gain regular first team football again at a level he has proven himself good in.

Whether his current side Watford are going to be active again this window remains to be seen, but with the recent signing of Tom Cleverley, the club are definitely showing signs of intent.
