Skipper Aliko insists on Fed Cup title

Niger Tornadoes captain and goalkeeper, Mustapha Aliko has said his side want to be champions of the state Federation Cup.

The Ikon Allah Boys will square up against the Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) side, Niger Tornadoes Feeders in the state Federation Cup final on Sunday at the College of Education (COE) ground in Minna.

The top-flights piped non-league side, Suleja Potters FC 1-0 in the semifinals on Friday at the COE ground, Minna while the NLO outfit outplayed Chiroma Pawa FC 3-1 to prepare the stage for the final clash.

Aliko said his side are determined to be more convincing in victory than they were against same side, Tornadoes Feeders in last year’s state Cup final.

“We are the title holders, we want to retain the title to head off to the national stage as state champions.

“We defeated the same opponents, Niger Tornadoes Feeders 3-1 in the final last year this time around we want to win with wider goal margin.

“We want to use the occasion to send a strong signal to other challengers at the centre of our intention to contest for the podium dance.

“We lost out in the quarterfinals at the national final but this time we want to go as far as the final to win the title.

“We know that the opponents will be hard this time to chance rewriting history but we have gone ahead to do extra work to ensure no upset is recorded in the state.

“We have not lowered our preparation the same way we are preparing for the resumption of the top-flight second stanza that’s how we are carrying on as far as the Federation Cup clash is concerned,” said the Niger Tornadoes shot stopper to supersport.com.
