“She looked visibly tired from the long travels” Waldrum explains benching Oshoala

Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum has shed light on his decision not to field Asisat Oshoala in Friday's 1-0 victory against South Africa, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Despite being the reigning CAF women's Player of the Year, Oshoala remained on the bench throughout the match, prompting speculation among fans and pundits.

Coach Waldrum clarified that Oshoala's absence was due to her late arrival at the team's camp, just a day before the crucial first leg encounter. He noted that the forward appeared visibly fatigued from the extensive travel.

"While Asisat just arrived at camp, she looked visibly tired from the long travels she endured. This explains why I opted not to feature her in the game," Waldrum said as per Daily Post.

However, Waldrum assured fans that Oshoala's fitness would be closely monitored in the lead-up to the second leg clash in Pretoria next Tuesday.

He emphasized the importance of assessing her readiness before making a decision on her involvement.
